- 3 very ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten

- Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Mash bananas in a large bowl.
- Stir in melted butter and vanilla extract.
- Mix in sugar, then beaten egg.
- Sprinkle baking soda and salt, fold gently.
- Fold in flour until just combined.
- Optional: fold in chocolate chips or nuts.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth top.
- Bake 50–60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool 10 minutes in pan, then transfer to wire rack.
Notes
Use very ripe bananas for natural sweetness and best flavor. Store at room temperature up to 3 days, or freeze slices up to 2 months. Avoid overmixing to maintain a soft, tender crumb.
