- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Mash bananas in a large bowl.
- Stir in melted butter and vanilla.
- Add sugar, then beaten egg.
- Mix in baking soda and salt.
- Fold in flour until just combined.
- Optional: fold in chocolate chips or nuts.
- Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Bake 50–60 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool 10 minutes in pan, then transfer to wire rack.
Notes
Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor. Store at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze sliced portions for up to 2 months. Avoid overmixing the batter to keep the bread soft and tender.
