Ingredients
500g (1 lb) halal-certified ground beef (80/20 fat ratio recommended)
8 mini sesame seed buns (lightly toasted)
8 cheddar cheese slices (pre-shredded preferred)
3 tbsp day-old bread crumbs (or panko)
1 large beaten egg (keeps meat moist)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp roasted garlic powder
Instructions
In a bowl, combine ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, salt, pepper, and roasted garlic powder. Mix gently.
Portion 2 oz of mixture into moistened hands, shaping into 3-4mm thick patties. Create a shallow press-mark in the center. Chill for 15 minutes.
Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat with a small amount of olive oil. Sear patties 1 minute per side until charred.
Top each patty with a cheese slice and let melt for 30 seconds. Warm buns in oven for 5 minutes. Assemble immediately.

Chilling the patties ensures clean edges and even cooking.
