Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water or coffee
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix dry ingredients.
  3. Add wet ingredients and mix.
  4. Stir in hot liquid.
  5. Pour into pans.
  6. Bake 30–35 minutes.
  7. Cool completely.
  8. Prepare frosting.
  9. Frost cake and serve.

Notes

Use hot coffee for deeper flavor. Do not overmix batter. Store in airtight container. Perfect with berries or ice cream.
