Ingredients
For the cookie bars:
3/4 cup salted butter (room temperature)
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 cups mini chocolate chips
For the frosting:
4 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
1/3 cup cocoa powder
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp milk
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch square pan with parchment paper.
Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs and vanilla; mix until incorporated.
Fold in flour, salt, and baking soda until just combined.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Spread dough evenly into the prepared pan.
Bake for about 30 minutes, until the edges are golden.
Cool completely before frosting.
