Ingredients
1 cup butter (227g), room temperature
1 cup light brown sugar (220g), packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar (100g)
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (188g)
2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats (170g)
2 cups chocolate chips (340g), semi-sweet, milk, or a mix
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Lightly grease or line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment.
Beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and light.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing after each, then beat in vanilla.
In a separate bowl whisk salt, baking soda, baking powder, flour, and rolled oats.
Add dry mixture to the creamed mixture; stir just until combined.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Press dough evenly into the prepared pan.
Bake 25–30 minutes, until golden brown and set at the edges.
Cool completely in the pan, then cut into bars.
Notes
Use old-fashioned rolled oats for the best chewy texture.
Spoon and level flour to avoid dry bars.
Mix chocolate types for balanced flavor; add nuts if you like.
For cleaner slices, chill the baked slab for 20 minutes before cutting.
